Student: Ian Kinder has actively studied the use of force since 1988,
training throughout the USA and in Okinawa, Japan. He is privileged to be
the student of Kyoshi Roy Osborne, Manong Teodoro (Ted) Buot, Ruben Flores
of Azteca Boxing Gym, Sergeant Joseph "Little Joe" Ferrera, and
former Marine and State Trooper Louis M. Chiodo of GUNFIGHTERS Ltd. Ian has
trained at some of our nation's most prestigious events, including events
for the Police Self-Defense Instructors International (PSDI), National
Police Training Council (NPTC), International Association of Law Enforcement
Firearm Instructors (IALEFI), Advanced Law Enforcement Training Camp (LETC),
and International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA).
He has also had the privilege of training under some of our nation's most
renowned and influential instructors in subjects ranging from violence and
crime prevention, unarmed force methods, the use of impact and sharp
weapons, chemical defense sprays and the combat use of firearms.
Instructor: An active instructor since 1990, Ian's instructor
certifications include the National Rifle Association, Refuse To Be A
Victim, American Red Cross, Hocking College, National Police Training
Council, OCAT (Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training), MOAB (Management of
Aggressive Behavior), Monadnock, Pro-Systems / Bushi Satori Ryu, the Ohio
Law Enforcement Training Center, two first-degree black belts and one
second-degree black belt. His instructor credentials include first aid,
"use of force" policy development, violence and crime prevention,
unarmed combat and control methods, and the use of less lethal and lethal
tools of force, including impact and sharp weapons, chemical defense sprays,
firearm safety and the combat use of handguns and long guns. He is also a
certified Range Safety Officer.
Ian Kinder has trained thousands of individuals, young and old, male and
female, and those with special needs, from the military, law enforcement and
public in violence and crime prevention, the use of force, firearm safety
and first aid.
Community Activism: Ian Kinder has been involved in community
activism since 2001. He is a volunteer instructor for the Eddie Eagle
GunSafe Program for kids. He was appointed State Chair of Education, Chapter
Officer of Education and Training / Police and Judicial Relations (Wayne
County) and member elected Board of Director for a 32,000 member Michigan
based advocacy organization. Through those positions, Ian worked together
with the law enforcement community and volunteers to raise needed funds to
support and protect our right of self-defense while providing life-saving
training opportunities. He conceived and organized the Law Enforcement
Training Team, the Regional Training Conference (RTC) and several Advanced
Training Clinics / fundraisers.
In addition to being a founding member and President of Live Safe Academy,
LLC Ian is also a founding member and President of the Great Lakes
Self-Defense Association (GLSDA). Through this role, he continues to work
aggressively to educate the public while arming people with the information
they need to protect and exercise their rights.
